Why I started LatAm Partners
The idea for LatAm Partners began in 2019 while leading Terminal's expansion into Latin America. As a venture-backed startup, Terminal had access to a network of portfolio companies through its investor network which included Kleiner Perkins, 8VC, Lightspeed Ventures, Atomic, and Craft. This supplied the company with a healthy funnel of leads for its turnkey software engineering team solution.
As I began participating in prospect calls with the business development team, it became apparent that many prospects needed to bring on engineering resources quickly. These companies didn't have the time to interview candidates, negotiate offers, and onboard new hires. As a result, I saw many tech founders interested in working with Latin American software developers who didn't fit Terminal’s ICP and were turned away. These companies needed a software services partner who could quickly build a team of software engineers. With this in mind, I began networking with Latin American software outsourcing companies (dev shops), and I quickly established excellent relationships with lT industry leaders across Argentina, Uruguay, Mexico, and Peru.
Building on these relationships, I proposed creating an internal partnership network to refer prospects to this network of dev shop companies. This allowed us to leverage our robust sales funnel, facilitate introductions to our partners, and earn a modest fee in return. Within the first 12 months of establishing this network, we generated over $250k USD in revenue for our partners, a testament to the effectiveness of our approach.
As I went on to launch Connect33 in 2021, I continued to receive requests for introductions to software development partners in Latin America, which led us to research over 300 firms and build this network of software partners further.
Today, our network of 20+ partners is spread across seven countries in Latin America. Our partners possess high-quality expertise in their technical fields and cover various industries, including software, logistics, financial services, healthcare, e-commerce, HR, web3, and more.
"We aim to help companies save valuable recruiting time by connecting them with high-quality, ready-to-start teams that check all the boxes on industry and technical expertise, time-zone alignment, and US client experience."
According to a recent study by Gartner, 83% of B2B buyers prefer a self-navigated, digital buying process to a sales-led one, and with revenue in the IT Outsourcing market projected to reach US$541bn in 2024, we believe our marketplace will help companies seamlessly discover and hire top regional software partners in LATAM. We call it LatAm Outsourcing 2.0.
